1940 Gibson J-55

Availability: In stock

Gorgeous old Gibson J-55. A very rare find indeed! This guitar is warm, dry, airy, harmonically rich, etc... The adjectives abound! Seriously one of the the very top sounding acoustics in our shop that is rife with many glorious old Gibson and Martins. This one has seen a lot of playing and has been refretted, neck has been reset, tuners are replacements, and it had a pickup at one point that has left some markings on the top. It was professionally touched up by finish guru, John Allison and looks good. Still there, but the texture has been nice and evened out. The original "batwing" bridge and inlaid Gibson script logo round out the interesting cool factor on this one, and once you get past how rare and nifty this one looks and actually pick it up and play it, the deal will be sealed.
